Teaching

Teaching Statement: My teaching experiences include teaching assistantships in higher education institutes, and teaching K-12 STEM education in remote villages through service-learning projects (see Beyond Academia, NTU Shanfu). For my teaching philosophy, I have always been aware of the power dynamic between teachers and students, and I believe that the classroom should be transformed into a place where both the instructor and students can learn and grow together, rather than one where the instructor holds all the authority.

My teaching assistantships and experiences in higher education context can be broadly categorized into two areas: (1) courses related to general engineering, engineering humanities, and global engineering, and (2) courses related to social science fields (sociology, human geography, or demography). All the courses listed below are English-teaching. Throughout these assistantships, I have been actively involved in co-designing syllabi, co-teaching or leading classes, facilitating discussions, grading assignments, and holding office hours. Additionally, my teaching experiences have extended beyond geographical boundaries, as I have collaborated with instructors from various universities in joint classrooms, overseeing student affairs and logistics.
